Last few things…

After 125 miles of riding and (only) 45 minutes of running this weekend, I didn’t work out today. Time for some recovery.

I did do some last-minute bike maintenance. My back wheel was so loud I couldn’t take it any more. I cleaned and lubed the rear cluster and that seems to have solved most of the issues. Tomorrow I will ride to work and then put new tires on the bike. Then pack it up.

It’s almost time to ride for real. At lunch today I looked at the profile for my day-one. It has two big climbs of 1000′ or more. They look pretty gradual, so I guess I will survive. The last 20 or so miles is a gradual slope down into Heavener. That’s nice! I think I’m going to need that bit of help.

This was posted from my Android. One more test.

97 miles – Another Android Post.

Hey! It worked! This is an edit from my computer, but the good news is I was able to get the Android to post properly. Yay!

You can see that my ride ended mysteriously about 17 miles from home. My phone battery died. So, in that last 17 miles I re-climbed that big mountain you see in the profile. It was tough. I was very tired and starting to cramp because I got behind on my electrolytes and hydration. That’s something I will have to avoid next Monday! I hope it’s not 97 degrees!

Well, we finally have a good diagnosis on Lori’s OKFree crash injury.  The initial x-ray was negative, but the pain was not.  As a result, Lori requested an MRI scan, which she had late last week.

We had the photos over the weekend, but if you don’t know what you are looking at (and we didn’t), you just don’t know what they mean.  The are very intersting photos anyway!

It turns out that Lori has three fractures.  Two in her pelvis and one in her hip.  She has minimal (given her injuries) inflammation, and no displacement.

This is probably good news.  We now know the extent of her injuries, and we know that bones heal.  She just needs to take some time off her body and rest.  And now she has the medical opinion she needs to actually take that difficult step.

It’s Vacation time for her!  Only, she can’t do the things she wants to do.  So it is a time for physical healing and mental growing.  I think it will be a good, and interesting, few weeks for us… :-)   Oh, and fortunately she can still swim and ride her bike on her indoor trainer.  Sanity is still in reach!
