Top Rock

Here’s a pic from our New Year’s Eve hike in Coyote Buttes. This is from the top of some of the slickrock formations.

Top Rock

We had a really great hike on this day. We had permits to South Coyote Buttes, but we drove to the end of the road (Jeep required), and hiked out to the Tee-pees first. Then on to this rock formation before heading back. It was truly spectacular.

15 Days Later

Yep, 15 days of winter camping. Life is good.

Happy New Year to all of you readers! All 3 of you! :)

Here is a pic from our hike in Buckskin Gulch in Southern Utah. It was one of the best hikes in memory. Just amazing. And pretty easy too. More to come later, but here is the pic:

Happy New Year from Buckskin!

We had wonderful weather for our entire trip. We left on December 22, and arrived home last night. Not a drop of rain, and temperatures were warm (40s in the day time and >15 at night). Really, everything went right this year — which was a happy contrast to last year’s 100 year rains. :)

Here’s a shot of some of the narrows. There are miles more of this. Some much more narrow too.

And, here is a shot from Coral Pink Sand Dunes…

And another one… :)

Life goes on, and it is good!

Work has been busy. That is good. One of these days the spooks will join us too.

In the mean time, we have also had some time to run. Here’s a pic from one recent adventure on Mt. Tam!

Life is Good

Belmont

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Here is a pic of Lori in Belmont, NV. There is a spring in the center of the town that flows out of a 2.5″ pipe. It creates a small oasis that was obviously a life-source for the town back in the 19th century when this town was founded. For us, it turned out to be a source of cold, clean, very yummy water. We filled our tanks and water storage containers a couple of times here. As a result, we had more water than ever, yet we were in a pretty arid part of the country. That water richness made for some happy camping as you can see in Lori’s face.
