Lori and I ran a challenging loop up Mt. Tam and back down through Muir Woods on our way home — It gave me a chance to see another part of the Dipsea trail (which we ran on last weekend too) in preparation for the race in couple of weeks.
It seems like summer will never arrive. It actually rained here on Wednesday and today. We should be a month past that by now, but not this year! We had a great run actually. Never to hot or cold, and with the unsettled weather, quite dramatic and beautiful.

At 5:45 am yesterday morning Cookie schooled the local feral cat. Unfortunately, the cat schooled her too with a scratch to her left eye — Cornea scratch and 3rd eyelid tear.
Yeah, the cat won. This time. Three vet-visits later and plenty of cycling supplements (aka drugs) later, she was unhappy but recovering.
She has also okay-ed firearms for feral cats, which is a big step for her. I’m sure she will get over that though, because she won’t be getting any satisfaction there. I say, “Be smarter” to her, not sharpershooterer.

We stayed in Snow Canyon for a couple of days before moving over to Sand Hollow for the Ironman Race. It is so beautiful in Snow Canyon– it’s hard to really do it justice w/ a camera. This pic was from our run on May 4th. It was her last, fast, run going into the race. She was too fast for me, but that gave me an excuse to take some pictures!

It is always nice to be home after a couple of weeks in the camper. We love the camper, and especially when it is warm it isn’t that confining. Still, it’s nice to have more than 4′ to move around in!
We had a great trip. Lori’s race was hard. It was an Ironman, of course it was hard! She did it, and she is recovering very well. The above pics are from a hike in the Bowl of Fire on the North Shore of Lake Mead yesterday. It was a great hike and a wonderful day to be out there. I’ll probably post some more pics from there before all is said and done…
