The hills on Mt. Tam were still frosted w/ snow when we rode our bikes over Ridgecrest on Sunday. Very interesting, but pretty cold too! There were places where the slush on the road was still several inches deep too. Not something we practice riding in much around here.

Lori hiking down Miller Trail. The snow was so heavy on the brush that the trail was blocked in many places. It was wet, cold, and very unusual.

I bought this bike w/o wheels about five years ago for $600. The bike was at least 10 years old then so it had out-dated, and worn-out Shimano components, including a triple crank. I bought the bike for the S&S couplings on the frame, thinking it would be a nice travel bike and a backup to my Ti Eddy Merkcx.
I have never liked the triple or the worn out feel of the components, but never have been able to pull the trigger on new components for a backup bike. Since Lori has been riding her tri bike exclusively for the last 18 months, we agreed I should move her Campy Chorus components over to this bike. I finally did, and the bike is amazing. The stiffer crank, better levers, and better gearing make it equal to Eddy — a joy to ride in a classic package.
You can see that the frame has seen some use, but that just doesn’t matter. I am loving this bike!
