Some of our mountain family was out hunting today. These are all from my bike ride — I didn’t see any mice, but all three of these guys seemed to be on the hunt, so they must have been there.

Lori needed to ride lots of hills today. So that’s all we did. Hill after hill after hill for 3+ hours. And it was foggy, then rainy, then windy and rainy. We both finished the day mildly hypothermic, but the hot tub saved us!
Yeah, that’s what you do when you are training for an Ironman triathlon. Well, not me, I don’t train for Ironman races, but I do train with Lori!

I love get-away-day. Another term for it is go-home-day. Of course, today is more like go-home-day-and-a-half.
I have a meeting this morning w/ my client and then head for the airport. 36 hours after arriving at the airport I will be home… As long as I stay on the “plan”. If not, who knows.
I’m ready to go. Africa is a wonderful place, but this trip has been like a trip to California where you only have time to go to Modesto. Not that there is anything wrong with Modesto, it’s just not why most people go to California.
The places I have been while in Botswana have been interesting in their own way, but not a lot more interesting than Modesto. The next time I return, I sure hope it is with Lori and we are headed for the game parks instead of the diamond mines.

Not much time, so this will be quick. Monday night I left SFO for Botswana. I arrived Wednesday afternoon, Gaborone time. Met w/ the client and then headed to Orapa on Thursday morning.
There isn’t much in Orapa besides the small company town, the mine, and a road leading in and out of town. I went for a run on the road last night. Here’s the view going both directions at my turnaround point, plus a pic of a wild boar I saw while out running.
I was told to stop running and stand still if I saw any wild animals. This is mostly because there are leopards and lions that have escaped out of the local game park. Actually, it’s hard to keep a leopard in the park because they can jump so high. I’m not sure about the lions. Anyway, this wild boar took off when I stopped to take his picture.
