This last weekend was a lot of Ironman training. And I didn’t even do it all! Lori and I rode our mountain bikes up and down Mt. Tamalpais in the rain on Saturday morning. The rain stopped as we came back down the mountain. Then we went for a run around the top of the mountain (about 12-13 miles). In addition to that, Lori went swimming for an hour and then rode her bike on her bike trainer for an hour before I joined her on the rest of the day. Whew, what discipline.
Yesterday Lori was slated for a 5-hour bike. We decided we would ride what we estimated to be about a 90-miler. It turned out to be 96 miles and we just barely beat the darkness coming back over the mountain to home. With so much climbing and a headwind for much of the afternoon, it took 6.5 hours. It was hard, and we were tired, but not devastated. That was good. Needless to say, we slept well last night.
