Yet. The fog is staying with us. That’s good. Here is a pic from this morning’s sunrise:

In a Funk

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Cookie and I dropped Lori off at the airport this morning at 5:20 a.m. As soon as Cookie saw we were at the airport, and then Lori got out and didn’t get back in, Cookie went into a funk. She got “that look” on her face that said “I am not happy about this, we need to rewind right now!” Unfortunately for Cookie, her mommy needed to go back to Maine to take care of her grandy.

Lori’s mother is doing much better, but Lori went home again to help out for a few more days. She’ll be home on Friday, but that’s just not soon enough for the Cookster. Cookie wouldn’t even go for a walk (well, not a hike anyway) with me. She just wanted to stay home in case her mother came home for her. I finally bribed her with treats and her favorite play times, and she seems to be doing better.

Anyway, on the way home from the airport we stopped to take a couple of pictures. Cookie liked the stop because she got to run around on the rocks etc. Here’s what we ended up with:

Sun Shower

I also finished a set of brushes I have been working on for a few weeks. A previous customer contacted me wanting brushes to give as gifts to his ushers and best man. Being a newlywed myself, I couldn’t refuse that request. Here’s how things turned out:

262/365 - Getting Fit

Lori got a new bike for her birthday. It will be a custom built Guru bike built for iron-distance triathlons. Today Colin at Studio Velo did the geometry/fit check on Guru’s size specification.

When we ordered the bike Colin took a few measurements and sent them w/ the order to Guru. They produce a preliminary design based on the measurements and the intended purpose of the bike. Colin set up the fit bike w/ these dimensions and then tweaked it just a little.

Next up: A bike frame. Oh yeah, and there are components to select… Fun stuff!

Now I Understand

Well the mystery about the early fall weather is solved.  Today it is winter.  We woke up yesterday (at about 3 a.m.) to thunder, lightening and just a little bit of rain.  That happens about once a year around here, so it was quite a novelty.  Hey, maybe even a little scary for me and Cookie.  Anyway, we didn’t sleep that well.  The day kind of cleared up with the sun’s trajectory, but it never warmed up too much.

Then, today it started foggy and then misty.  Then rainy.  Winter rainy, and windy.  So, now it all makes sense…  I miss the summer.  Oh, it’s all temporary I’m sure.  And actually this is good for fire safety this year.  It’s just a little shocking to see fall seemingly pass so quickly.  Here’s a pic of some ornamental grass in our garden (where I pulled a couple of stumps and planted an orange tree in the rain this afternoon).
